Foodsby

Android Engineer

Worked on the Foodsby mobile team using Kotlin, MVVM and Coroutines.
Rewrote the Checkout feature in the app to use new endpoints resulting in a savings of $18k/yr for the company.
Rearchitected the app to use MVVM, LiveData and Coroutines as much as possible.
Built out a brand new onboarding feature so users weren't just presented a login screen on app load, but an explanation of the app's purpose and how to use it, which resulted in an increase in sign-ups and conversions from web only users to mobile users.
Added a location selection feature using Google Maps, Places API and Foodsby endpoints to help users select a drop off location closer to them in a much more user friendly presentation.
Built out the UI for subscriptions using the app, both in checkout and the user profile sections of the app.
Trained in an Android Intern on basic UI development and helped her code a whole new subscription service banner and activity for managing a user's subscription better.
Maintained a 4.7 star rating in the Play Store as well as a 99% crash free sessions record.
Developed the process for and managed nearly all releasees to the Play Store during my time at Foodsby as well as developing documentation for the release process.
Vice President of the IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) team, helping to bring awareness to diversity and inclusion issues within the company, ideate on potential solutions with team members and present those possible solutions to the Foodsby leadership team directly.

Software Engineer

Android engineer on the Flagship Android App with the Personalization and Inspiration team responsible for customizing the experience for users resulting in millions more installs of the app.
Worked with SceneForm ARCore to include a new feature into the app to visualize items in your home before you purchase them.
Advocated for incorporating the latest architectural patterns from Google, such as MVVM and a strong proponent for writing all new code in Kotlin.
Mentor for 2 interns responsible for teaching them Android with neither of them having any prior experience. By the end of the internship, both were capable developers that Target offered positions to.
Responsible for cutting releases, tracking down bugs using Crashlytics and deploying production ready code to millions of users.
Worked closely with Product Owners to ensure solutions and features are delivered on time.
Strong advocate for using the best design possible following patterns outlined in Material Design.
Worked closely with our Accessibility team to ensure the app was accessible to all users.

SmartThings

Associate Software Engineer

Restructured data in the cloud platform and the mobile application to enable localization (translation) of the application into 85 languages.
Developed new microservices using a Ratpack, in Java 8 and Groovy with a Cassandra backend as part of the Cloud Platform team tasked with constructing a new microservice infrastructure to support new devices using the emerging Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF) standard.
Flexed soft skills while working at Samsung HQ (Korea) for 2 weeks; indirectly influencing people at all levels to ensure SmartThings’ integration with the Samsung Connect application made it into the Galaxy S8 launch.
